#1 Post-Plaza Hotel – Leeuwarden, Friesland The Leeuwarden post office has years of history behind it. And the owners of the Post-Plaza Hotel knew this all too well. When they converted the old post office into a hotel in 2015, they thought of every detail. It is not to be missed that it was an old post office. The story dating back to 1885 makes the hotel so special that they won the HotelSpecials Award for most special hotel this year.

#2 Hotel Kasteel Bloemendaal – Vaals, Limburg
The history of one of the most beautiful castle hotels in the Netherlands dates back to 1791. In this year the successful Aachen cloth manufacturer Arnold von Clermont decided that he wanted a royal residence opposite his new weaving mill. Due to the French Revolution, among other things, the castle falls into several hands and is eventually used by the monastery. After 130 years of monastic life, the nuns leave the building and the municipality of Vaals decides to transform the building into a hotel.

#3 De Koperen Hoogte – Zwolle, Overijssel
This hotel is mainly known for its restaurant. The hotel is in fact an old water tower and the restaurant is located at a height of no less than 55 meters. Because the restaurant is also revolving, you have a beautiful panoramic view of the landscape. Because you naturally want to enjoy this for an extra long time, a hotel has been created.

This hotel is located in the largest and oldest abbey complex in the Netherlands. This special building in South Limburg has served as a monastery since the 12th century.
