The 'first time' travel experiences bring success in life

The thrill and excitement of our "first time" travel experiences boosts our confidence, broadens our horizons and ultimately makes us more successful in life. This is according to a Booking.com survey among more than 15,000 participants in twenty countries. Whether the first experience was a trip abroad, discovering a new destination or traveling alone for the first time, nearly two-thirds (65%) of the participants said it was a significant boost to self-confidence. Traveling for the first time can seem scary, but most travelers (61%) agree that the nerves they felt before the trip were ultimately unnecessary.

The new energy and increased self-confidence after the trip can motivate us to make radical decisions in life. According to 1 in 10 (13%) their first travel experience motivated them to start a new job or career, 1 in 10 (13%) say it started a new relationship and a fifth (21%) decided to leave. going to do something completely new.

The first travel experience can also help open doors to inspiring activities, such as meeting new people (40%), discovering new meals and ingredients (43%), learning a new language (29%) and learning new things about others. cultures (29%). Also, such an experience can have such an impact on someone's life that many people find it more exciting than their first date (53%), their first job (51%), a new friendship (62%) or even the first kiss ( 36%).

As soon as people get the travel jitters, two-thirds do not just get rid of it (64%). The majority say that the experience of traveling to a certain destination for the first time encourages them to visit other unfamiliar places, experiences or accommodations. In fact, nearly half (45%) say their travel plans for 2017 are more adventurous than in the past, and one in two respondents (56%) want to vacation even further from home than before. More than half plan to take more weekend trips (54%) or go somewhere their friends haven't been (47%).
