Shopping and going out in Arnhem

Arnhem is a pleasant city with a large center with numerous shops. Whether you are looking for Primark, SoLow, Lucardi or Hema in the different shopping streets you will find the most diverse stores. Not only well-known businesses, but also independent entrepreneurs are well represented in the heart of Arnhem.

Besides the fact that you can enjoy shopping here, Arnhem also has numerous restaurants, cafes and lunchrooms. Whether you like Greek, Mexican, Italian or Indonesian, you will certainly enjoy yourself in Arnhem. The prices are also very reasonable, so that you don't have to spend too much for a night out.

Finally, Arnhem is also recommended for going out. Near the station are several cinemas, as well as theaters. There is also plenty to see and do for young people and students, so that Arnhem is highly recommended for the whole family.

Personally, we like to come to Arnhem, not only to shop (it's impossible to get out if you have a teenage daughter), but also to eat. On one of these trips through the city we ended up at bistro café Robin Hood, where we had a delicious lunch. Time to go back here and see if it's affordable and delicious in the evening too.

Bistro cafe Robin Hood in Arnhem

Bistro café Robin Hood in Arnhem can be found on Willemsplein, near the station. The store has a few seats outside, where umbrellas are also set up, so that you are protected against sun and rain. Inside it is tastefully decorated and you can choose from tables with chairs or tables with benches.

The name Robin Hood is well reflected in the wooden interior. A large wooden horse, various paintings, candles and atmospheric lighting as well as fake windows complete the entourage. The bar is located right in the middle and is completely coordinated with the rest of the interior. The toilets (separate for ladies and gentlemen) are clean and are located at the back of the cafe.

Our experience

As mentioned before, we came here by accident. We had to be at our daughter's school for an introduction and on the way back we briefly dived into the center of Arnhem. Of course, we also had to eat and the lunch offer of € 9.50 for a Wiener Schnitzel attracted us.

No sooner said than done. We ordered several dishes, including the Wiener Schnitzel and for our daughter the Robin Hood lunch plate and were positively surprised at the portions we received. A delicious salad was served with the dishes in addition to the fries. After checking out, we were even more surprised because we were allowed to drink coffee or tea at the expense of the house.

Because our first experience was very positive we decided to eat here for our daughter's 16th birthday. The menu was of course different this time, but the question whether hubby could choose a portion of Wienerschnitzel (as indicated on the lunch menu) was not difficult at all. Everyone chose a different dish, including our guest and we had a delicious meal. The portions were again very generous and we were not short of anything.

We had indicated that it was our daughter's birthday and we were celebrating her birthday. After the empty plates were collected, we were allowed to stay seated because there would be a surprise for the birthday boy or girl. Well, we knew that (and so did they). There was a large coupe with ice cream, tiramisu and various pieces of fruit. During the serving, the song 'There is a birthday' was played and all the guests sang along with all their heart. Daughter doesn't like the attention and didn't know where to look for it, but she did enjoy it. In addition to the large coupe of ice cream, pears in warm sauce were also served. Moreover, we were allowed to have a drink at the expense of the house.

All in all, the service was again top notch and we enjoyed ourselves. An internet search has shown that all guests receive a cup of coffee or tea at the expense of the house after dinner and checkout. That is certainly a plus that you can take into account. A great service also to the guests. Definitely worth repeating and highly recommended.
